Greetings and Salutations From Mary
Welcome to the official first newsletter that Design Wisdom and Mary Shurtleff will be putting out there for all to see. I am excited to put my journalism/editor work to use. I will be writing, of course, my own stories and experiences, however, I am asking all of you for your stories and experiences to share with other. I encourage you to send me pictures, stories, Q & A’s. I would like to make this a community newsletter that informs, educates, and entertains while bringing humor into your lives. Life it seems has gotten too serious lately with the economy, natural disasters, and everyday overachieving tensions. STOP the FEAR!! It is time to take a step back and just breath and enjoy and let someone else drive the buggy for a few hours.
Lesson Today: Define Judgmental Judgmental in the dictionary means the RIGHTNESS OR WRONGNESS of something, or of the usefulness of something, based on a personal view. As a generalization, a value judgment can refer to a judgment based upon a particular set of values or on a particular value system. |

| During this experiment five monkeys were placed in a cage with a banana on a string hanging from the top of the cage. A set of stairs was placed beneath the banana. Before long a monkey would go to the stairs and climb toward the banana. As soon as the monkey touched the stairs, all the monkeys were sprayed with cold water. After a while as another monkey made an attempt to retrieve the banana and they were all again sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs to retrieve the banana, the other monkeys would try to prevent it. Next the cold water was put away and one monkey was removed from the cage and replaced with a new monkey. Of course, the new monkey immediately sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his surprise all the other monkeys would attack him to prevent him from doing so. After another attempt to climb the stairs and an attack from the other monkey, he knew that if he tried to do so again he will be hurt. Next, another of the original five monkeys was removed and replaced with a new one. The new monkey, of course, goes to the stairs and is quickly attacked. The previous new monkey also takes part in the assault. Then, a third original monkey is replaced with a new one followed by a fourth, then the fifth. Each time the newest monkey would go to the stairs, he would be viciously attacked. Sadly, the new monkeys have no idea why they were not allowed to climb the stairs to obtain the banana nor why they were participating in the attacks on those who did. None of the remaining monkeys had ever sprayed with cold water as a conditioning. Why did this occur........ Because in their minds, that is the way it has always been and will always be. This is how a judgement can stop opportunities from occurring in your life. As we become locked into a belief system of RIGHTNESS or WRONGNESS it can become the prison. Say for instance you are prejudice of another race and refuse to hire or work for someone of such race. | This person may be the teacher who will raise you above your current abilities but you refuse the opportunity based upon your prejudice. Like the monkeys you may miss your banana based upon programming that no longer serves you. Education and awareness of such belief systems and the desire to change them are 80% of the solution to changing your life path. Find those programs from childhood and/or adult hood that slapped you down and turn it around. Don’t let someone’s past programming make a monkey out of you!! What you think--you will become. For instance, when you get on an airplane, you expect the plane to take you to the place that was on your ticket—your expectation becomes a realization. In our mind, what we think will take us to that destination. If you expect and visualize a destination-it will materialize. If you expect and visualize doubt and failure in the journey to the destination-it will materialize. Doubt and failure simply means you are not READY!! It doesn’t mean it won’t happen—just that you are not ready at this moment in time. It needs time to bake. If fear and doubt seem to block your goal, it is doing so for a reason. Search deeper; educate yourself in how to step through that fear or the feeling of doubt. Realize FEAR IS THE THIEF OF DREAMS. Banish the thief from your kingdom, allowing it to only return when the fight and flight can benefit you. There is truly a time for courage and a time for fear. Understand and separate the difference. See your fear, talk to the fear, and find a way around the fear. Be the water –flow around the fear. Be the oak tree—stand solid in your grounding to the earth and commitment to your desires. Be the fire of passion-be the metal of logic. As you incorporate all elements of feng shui—water, wood, fire, earth, and metal into your life you will feel aligned and balanced. Your frequencies of energy line up and the canvas you begin to paint is bright. Create your environment to match the visions inside your mind. As mentioned last month in the aspects, the star of instability flying to the center of the home and world did cause a lot of instability in the government, earth energies of the earth such as volcanoes and earthquake, and instabilities within the home. We had the tornados and flooding in the middle United States as well as other world events such as the death of Osama Bin Laden. A lot of instability stirred up a lot of change. Embrace the change and the clearing. This month wood, wind, and air fly to the center of our world bringing with it more possibilities of wind, air, and weather pattern disturbance. The clash of the wood and metal at the center of the world/ country/home could produce more conflict in governments around the world as well. Place water and plants in the center of the home this month to buffer this clash. This may be a month in which romance finds its way into your life. However, be careful of the con artist this month. Do your homework and do background checks on any situation that may feel OFF. We may see more extra marital affairs exposed this month. To enhance your chance of romance place pink peonies, love birds, and rose quartz in the South West of the home this month with the behavioral energy intention for romance and love to find it way to your door. Also, chances of pregnancies are high this month—use caution if you are not ready to commit to a family. Place salt water in the Northwest this month to stabilize the home or business. Place 6 Chinese Coins in the West with increased lighting to bring in creativity to set projects into motion. Money energy is high in this sector this month. This combo may also support lung and allergy related afflictions. Use water to calm and cool. Place extra water in the Northeast of the home to strengthen money and career possibilities. You may also place blue detergent in the NE. Place the Wealth God on the Tiger this month in the Northwest for wealth luck and pay attention to the annual adjustments suggested in the Golden Rabbit 2011 e-book. |

| The South of the home or business can be profitable this month for home and business. Place citrine stones and water in the South this month. Place a metal three-legged frog in the South this month to swallow the illness star. Angle the frog so it does not face the front door or a window. Place a red Buddha or Mandala in the North this month for calm and peace. Avoid extra lighting. Also place 3 metal ki luns in the North to stave off negative energies. Illness energy flies to the East this month. Be sure to refresh your salt water cure. Place extra metal and/ or your metal calabash or wu luo in this area to push down this energy. Be careful of burnout. Eat right, exercise appropriately, and get some serious rest. There is a clash in the South East sector of abundance this month. Place a red Buddha or red Mandala in the South East for resolution and wise decision-making. Carry clear crystals for clarity and wisdom and an end to conflict.
